I am doing my product review today as I won't be here on Friday.

This weeks Product Review is Vinyl! It is so easy to cut with either your Cricut or Silhouette! It's great for decorating walls, mirrors, cars and even your kitchen cupboards. We used it in our youngest sons room as he wanted circles on his walls and I was not going to try to paint them! The great thing? When he gets tired of them, we can just peel them off! Here is a picture of how the vinyl looks on his walls.

I am so sorry for not blogging for a while! My father had major surgery on Thursday to remove his stomach due to stomach cancer. He is doing well. But as you can imagine, I with missing two days, I had a pile up of work yesterday!

Today is Tips and Techniques Tuesday! This week's tip is to make your own buttons! All you need is decorative scissors or a circle punch and a small hole punch! I am bumping up this week's Product Review to today as I won't be here on Friday.

This week's product review is the Cinch machine by We R Memory Keepers! This is such a fun tool! You can make all sorts of mini albums using this tool. The benefits of the Cinch include being able to select which holes are punched and the ability to use the plastic coils as well as the metal o-wires. This tool is a must have if you love making mini albums!

Today is Tips & Techniques Tuesday!

This is a tip that I use often. I have many sheets of plain Chipboard Letters and hate painting them. Solution? I put a bit of ink refill on a Q-Tip and ink the letters while they are still in the sheet. No more messing around with paint and ink to color my letters!

I'm bumping up Product Review Thursday to today as I will not be here on Friday.

This week I would like to tell you about the Making Memories 17x23 Cutting Mat. As some of you may already know, we have these on our tables in our classroom. I have one at home too and love it! It protects my table, I can cut on it, it cleans up easily, and it has a grid system (which I often use with my clear stamp blocks to line up stamps!). This is one of those must have tools! LOVE IT! :)

A tip from Tim: Put a piece of packaging tape over your intricate dies right out of the package to avoid that time consuming weeding! This way your paper won't stick into all those little crevices! Awesome!

Today is Product Review Thursday!

I love the look of distressed paper! To achieve this look I like to use my Making Memories Sanding Block and Edge Scraper! These are wonderful tools that make distressing so easy! Quick tip: wrinkle up your paper before sanding, it makes your sanding stand out so much better!

Today is Tips and Techniques Tuesday!

This week's tip is using paint with your rubber stamps! Water based paints are great for using with your rubber stamps! I like to use Q-tips to apply the paint to my stamps. Baby wipes work great for clean up, followed by a stamp scrubber. Make sure to clean your stamps immediately for easier clean up. Here is a You Tube video for more ideas!

Do you ever get stuck for ideas? Do you have lots of magazines, but find it time consuming to look through them to get ideas? Well, here's a challenge for you! I want you to take out one of your least used idea books and flip to a random page. Look at the card or layout on the page and find one thing to incorporate into your next card or layout. Like the whole thing? Sraplift it! It's amazing how just doing this a few times will jump-start your creativity!

Today is Product Review Thursday!

It's time to get back to basics! I love using eyelets on my projects, but sometimes my Crop-A-Dile just can't reach far enough on the page. When this happens I take out my hammer, eyelet tools and mat and hammer away! I often use my hammer to flatten down brads as well. Sometimes basic tools just work better! This week's Tips and Techniques are a bit late due to the fact that I wasn't here yesterday.

Do you like adding different accents such as beads to your projects, but don't know what to use to adhere them? Glossy Accents works great!. Last night I wanted to add some loose beads to my layout, but regular glue wasn't working well.. Then I decided to try my Glossy Accents! I puddled the Glossy Accents on and around the beads, it looks awesome! Too bad I didn't think of taking a picture! Here is a You Tube video you can check out for more ideas:

I'm sorry that I didn't get a chance to post my blog yesterday.. so much to do and so little time, especially when things (like computers) don't work like they're supposed to! :s

Today's blog is a late tip... So many of us have stickers and rub-ons that are just sitting in our stash because we don't really feel like using them anymore. Why not spruce them up? Adding Glossy Accents, Flock, Glitter, Stickles and other embellishments are a great way to add new life to old stickers and rub-ons!

Today is Challenge Monday! Now that the little ones are back in school, it is time to get back into the swing of things! This week I would like you all to back up all your 2011 photos. Upload them off cards, phones, etc. and get them backed up! I like to create copies on discs and then take one set to my Dad's and another to my Mother-In-Law's for added protection. Not exactly a fun challenge, but one that you will be thankful for when your computer crashes! :)

Today is Tips & Techniques Tuesday and today is a tip that requires a bit of work.

I am sure that I am not the only one who is hoping for some Scrapbooking supplies for Christmas! However, I need to clear out my craft room a bit to make room for new supplies. I am going to go through my Clip-It-Up and other drawers and organizers to find supplies that I know I won't be using. I plan to give these supplies to my boys, as they enjoying scrapbooking as well. If you don't have kids of your own to give your old supplies to, you can give them to schools and hospitals. They love these kinds of donations! Make room for new supplies. :)

While reading my email this morning I came across a great tip to share with all of you today since it is Tips & Techniques Tuesday!

Want a fresh take on a title for your next holiday layout? Consider creating one using a clever spin on a holiday saying, song lyric, or quote. The title on this "Baking Spirits Bright" layout is a playful take on the line "making spirits bright" from the favorite holiday song, "Jingle Bells". With hundreds of lines available in songs and literature, the punny title twist possibilities are limitless! This is so much more fun than just a regular old title! I'm sorry that my blogs have been kind of hit and miss the pass couple of weeks. One of our main staff members got a new job, and now I am taking over her duties... so much to do in so little time!! :)

You can use cardstock, patterned paper and any embellishments you like - as long as they are all the same color. Today is Tips & Techniques Tuesday and this week I have found a really neat technique to share with all of you!

Have you heard of embossed resist? Well, this technique is Versamark resist! Instead of embossing your image with clear or white embossing powder, just use your Versamark ink and your favorite ink pad! What a time saver, and it is also a softer look! YouTube has some great tutorials and ideas.

I love Liquid Applique! I use it quite often to dress up chipboard letters, die cuts, snowflakes, etc. Just because it looks like snow, doesn't mean it has to be used for snow! And did you know that you can sprinkle glitter into it before heating it? It looks so pretty!

Did you know that tomorrow is National Button Day? I read that in the Book we just received - PaperCrafts 365 Cards! So my tip this week is to use buttons on a project! From embellishments, to the centers of flowers, there are so many things you can do with buttons! Have you tried making button jewelry? All you need is some stretchy cord and your favorite buttons and you have a great bracelet!

Wow! I can't believe that it is already November 10th! Christmas is quickly approaching and now is the time to get all those projects finished!

Today I am using our classroom tools as my product review! Did you know that our Accucut machines cut everything from alphabets to boxes? We have dies for cards, envelopes, boxes of all shapes and sizes and dies that will cut a fancy edged piece of 12x12 paper, just to mention a few. I am in the process of making Cupcake boxes for the ornaments that I made for teacher's gifts.

Today is Product Review Thursday and I am excited to share this product with you.

I am sure you have all heard about Glossy Accents for adding a bit of dimension and shine to your projects, but did you know that it is also a wonderful adhesive? For example, I have a Tinkerbell Croc accent on my shoe and it broke. I used Glossy Accents to glue it back on and it has worked better than any other type of strong adhesive that I have used. I also used the Glossy Accents to glue a glass ornament of my sons. It dries clear, so you can't tell that it has been glued! I love scrapbook items that can also be used for uses around the house!

Have an idea in mind when you start your project! It sounds obvious, but it really does help! Before starting a layout or card I always look for a layout or design that I like. It really does make the project go much quicker! You can always tweak things as you go along, and make it your own design. We have great magazines such as Creating Keepsakes and Scrapbooks Etc. for inspiration. The Internet is also a great resource of ideas!

Today is Product Review Thursday!

Today's review is the Silhouette Pick Me Up tool! This is an awesome tool for picking up tiny rhinestones or poking bits out of die cuts or sticker letters! It also works great for beads, paper pieces and much more! I used it the other day to help me get the backings off of rub-on letters. It has a tacky end and a piercing end. Hurry in as we only get these tools a couple of times a year!

Today is Tips and Techniques Tuesday and this week I would like to share a great gift idea with you! Christmas is coming quickly and so many of us have at least a few people on our lists who are hard to buy for. My solution? Calendars! They make a great gift and when the year is done you can cut them up and place the pages into an album. A gift that can be enjoyed all year long. I make one every year for my Dad and I write in all the birthdays and anniversaries of all our family members. He really appreciates this as it is hard to remember all the birthdays for the extended family members.

Today is Tips and Techniques Tuesday and this week's tip is about fibers.

Fibers don't seem to be as popular anymore and I don't know why! They are such a nice way to add a bit of dimension to your projects. There are so many things that you can do with fibers. My favorite way of using fibers is to create a border with them. You can add beads, buttons, brads, etc. to jazz them up a bit.

Today is Product Review Thursday and this product is one I used just last night.

I like to have a scanned copy of all my layouts. I'm very paranoid about having a house fire and losing all my precious photos and scrapbooks. So, I have scanned all my scrapbooks and put them on Discs. Then, I create 3 copies. One to go to my Dad's house, one for my Mother-In-Law's house and one to put in the back of the album. 3L makes these wonderful CD pockets that are sticky on the back! They work great! You can also add them to a 6x6 card as well! What a wonderful way to give pictures and videos to friends and family members!

We offer the scanning service here at the store. The cost is $1 per page plus $5 for a disc!

Today is Tips & Techniques Tuesday!

This week's tip is to JUST DO IT! I haven't scrapbooked since July due to summer holidays, other projects, and Christmas cards. Getting back into it was a bit hard. As much as I love scrapbooking, I kept finding other things to do. So, last week I just made myself do it. The first layout took a bit longer, but then I got back in my groove and I was even able to complete 6 layouts yesterday! My other tip is one that I have shared before, but it works really well for me so I wanted to remind you about it! I challenge myself to use different embellishments, techniques and tools on each page. Sometimes I get stumped on how to use a certain item or technique on a page and then I always come up with something that I would not have thought of if I had not challenged myself!

Today is Product Review Thursday and this week I am reviewing the Cricut!

I love my Cricut! I have an Expressions machine and I use it on almost every project I do, whether it is a card or a layout. I also use my Cricut when I make baby frames. We even used it when we decorated our youngest son's room. He wanted circles on his wall and I was not going to paint them! We used the vinyl and I used my Gypsy to place the circles to create rings. The best part is that we can just peel off the circles when he gets tired of them!

As a side note to yesterday's challenge, I was putting my layouts into page protectors last night and could not find my Drumheller 2007 pages, and there are lots! I searched my house for 45 minutes before I finally found them in an unmarked pizza box (clean) in my craft room! What an ordeal! Lesson learned: LABEL EVERYTHING! LOL!

With the anniversary of 9-11 this past weekend, it got me thinking about the events in my life that have affected me, both positively and negatively. I want to make a layout about the anniversary and how I felt about it. I know I won't get around to actually scrapbooking it for a while, but I do plan to do my journaling while the ideas are still fresh in my mind. My challenge to all of you this week is to at least write your journaling for a layout about an important event in your life. And, if you are not a scrapbooker, you can write this story in your journal!

Today is Tips & Techniques Tuesday and today I would like to talk to you about organization.

As many of you probably already know, I really like being organized! I find I get much more accomplished by being organized. For scrapbooking, I have a routine. When I get my pictures developed I always write some journaling and details such as date on a recipe card and then put it with my pictures. It helps having certain details already written out when I go to scrapbook the pictures. Then, I pick out my patterned papers and cardstock to match. I then go through magazines and books and find a layout that will work with my pictures and write the page number and the name on the book on the recipe card. The paper and photos then go into a Protect & Store until I am able to scrapbook the layout.

For cardmaking (when I am doing mass cards such as my Christmas cards) I choose a design and then complete each step of the card before assembling the card. This makes Christmas cards not such a huge chore each year!

Today is Product Review Thursday and I have a few products to review this week!

I've been working on my Christmas cards at home and last night in particular I used a few useful tools! First of all, I used my Martha Stuart Scoring Board. I've found that it is easier and faster to score my whole sheet of 8.5x11 paper before cutting it with my DreamKuts Paper Trimmer by Zutter. This is an awesome cutting tool which enables you to make many different cuts. I especially like it for cutting photo mats for scrapbooking. I can get 6 4x6 photo mats from one sheet of 12x12 paper! I also used my Cuttlebug to cut my shapes with the Spellbinders and then emboss them with a embossing folder. I had so much fun cutting and embossing last night! I love tools that make scrapbooking and card making easier and quicker!

Today is Challenge Wednesday! I'm going to make this week's challenge easy as I am sure you all want to be outside enjoying the beautiful weather rather than sitting in your houses crafting!

This week's challenge is to use flowers on your project! Now, I am talking about all those flowers that we all have that were so popular a couple of years ago.. paper flowers! While re-arranging my craft room a bit on the weekend I discovered that I have a TON of paper flowers. There are so many creative things that you can do with these little flowers. Try inking or misting them for a different look, cutting them in half or using them in other creative ways! There are some great tutorials online to help with ideas on altering your flowers. This week's challenge is to use your adhesives in a way that you haven't before. For example, did you know that you can apply glitter, flock and foil directly over foam squares? It makes a really neat embellishment for cards and layouts! Do you like photo corners? I like purchasing white photo corners and then using ink, chalk and sprays to color them to match my project.

They are the Fiskars Soft Touch Scissors and I LOVE them! My favorite part about them is the fact that they don't have thumb holes in them. When doing a lot of cutting in the past the knuckle on my thumb would get so sore! I have had mine for about 9 years and they are still sharp! They are also great for kids! Today is challenge Wednesday and today's challenge is for all of you to back up your pictures and any other important files on your computers!

Yesterday my husband's computer crashed and he thought he lost a couple important files off his desktop. Thank goodness his best friend owns a computer business and was able to retrieve the files! Our computer does a backup of our documents every night on an external hard drive so at least our pictures were safe! Please don't forget to do backups every once in a while and lose precious photos!

I am not here tomorrow so I am sharing my Tips and Techniques today!

With school starting next week I am sure all you mom's out there are getting a tad stressed with back to school shopping and such. Here is a tip to make the first day of school go smoother. I don't take pictures of my kids on the morning of the first day of school anymore. Instead, I get them to dress up in their first day of school clothes the weekend before school and take pictures then. It's much less stressed for me, and they are also more cooperative when they are not excited for school. I also take pictures of all their school supplies at the same time. This way everything is ready for the first day of school ahead of time. My second tip is to wait until the end of the day to take teacher / child photos. The poor teachers are so stressed that first morning that I like to wait until the day is over and they are more relaxed. And the last pictures I take are of each child at their new desks.

Today is Product Review Thursday! Today I am reviewing Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist! I have quite a few bottles of the Glimmer Mist, but I haven't used it that often. Yesterday I was making cards and decided to try a resist technique with my Glimmer Mist. I stamped my image with Versa Mark ink on white cardstock and then embossed it with white embossing powder. I then sprayed my Glimmer Mist over the whole piece of cardstock. The result was beautiful! I found that the darker the spray, the better it looked! Glimmer Mist is also great for coloring canvases, using stencils and creating a masked background, plus many other great applications.

Today is challenge Wednesday! Our weekly special this week is 25% off all stickers! So, this week's challenge is to use stickers on either a layout or a card. I love using stickers on my projects because they are flat and don't add a lot of bulk to my layouts and cards. One of my favorite things to do with stickers is to mat them on cardstock so that they pop off the page a bit more. And my favorite stickers? Jolee's of course! :)

I'm so excited to share this idea with you. I had a spice rack that I was no longer using, and rather than storing it to sell in a garage sale I decided to use it in my scrapbook room. I went through all my buttons and organized them by color. I wish I had done this sooner because I bought purple and red buttons while we were on holiday because I didn't think I had any... I have lots now! :)

And speaking of buttons, I have discovered that I have lots of white buttons. What to do with white buttons? If you have Copic Markers you can use them to color buttons, pearls and rhinestones! A perfect way to make matching embellishments for your projects!

It's so hard to believe that it is already the middle of July! I hope you are all having a great summer despite the rain and mosquitoes!

I love the way that Baker's Twine and Floss can make such an impact on a card or layout! Whether you are using it to stitch with or just threading a button with it, it is awesome! We have a great selection of We R Memory Keepers twine and floss that go along with the Sew Easy in stock... so many pretty colors! We also sell a nifty little tool that is actually a dental tool, that is great for threading buttons. It is the Gum EEZ-THRU floss threader. I Love mine and use them all the time! When going on holidays whether I am flying or driving I always bring an empty Protect & Store with me. It is great for keeping all trip memorabilia such as ticket stubs or postcards together. It is also great for storing any scrapbook supplies that I purchase on holidays! :)

I can't believe that it is already Friday! This week has flown by! And I am happy to say that I got both of my boys school pages done, all their school work filed and the pages scanned here at the store as a back-up! How are you all making out with your goals?

With summer CHA right around the corner the new product arrivals have slowed down... so I have nothing new to report this week.

It's another beautiful day and I am sure that the last thing on your mind is scrapbooking, but hey, it's on my mind so I thought I would share with you my favorite trimmer as today's product review.

I own the Fiskars 28mm Rotary Trimmer and I LOVE it! I have the Triple Track trimmer too and that is a good one, but I find that the blades get dull quickly. I changed my blade in the rotary trimmer on April 18th and have since completed 84 layouts and started 2 1/2 protect and stores full of layouts! This blade goes a long way! Another great thing about this trimmer is that you get decorative blades to replace the straight blade. Making decorative, straight borders these blades are a breeze!

Well, I am happy to say that I have finished by youngest son's Grade 2 pages! I had the day off yesterday and my kids are at camp, so I scrapbooked all day!!!

I had a friend ask me how I managed to do this so soon after school got out and I told her that organization is the key. I have a 12x12 accordion file folder for each child, labeled for each month of the school year. At the end of each month I make sure to file all the work that they bring home each month. This way, when I go to make their scrapbooks everything is in order and easy to find.
Another way that I stay organized for the kids school books is that I have purchased the same papers and accessories for both kids. When I create the older one's books I plan the younger one's pages at the same time. This saves time when I am trying to design pages and even though I use close to the same layout, the pages are different because the photos are different!

Lastly, I use a file box for each of the boys to keep the stuff that I did not scrapbook. My goal is have one box for all 12 years... I may have to weed through the boxes as the years go by... :)

I hope this helps! And, since I am not working tomorrow, here's your challenge... try to implement some of the above ideas not only for school pages, but other scrapbooking as well!

Today's Tips and Techniques are about making your own borders!

This is a perfect way to use up your scraps of cardstock and printed papers! Anytime that I have a strip of paper that is less than 2" I turn it into a border. It is so easy to make decorative borders! I like to use my EK Success and Martha Stuart Punches to make quick and easy borders. It is also very easy to dress them up with brads, eyelets, buttons, rub-ons and bling! The choices are endless!

Yippee!! It's the last Monday of the school year! Have you started weeding through your child's school work to decide what to scrap, keep and get rid of? I try to to a little bit each month so it's not so overwhelming at this time of year.

I will be doing the product review today as I will not be here on Thursday. I would like to tell you all about the Core Dinations core cardstock. This cardstock is awesome for using embossing folders! You can change the look easily by how much sanding you do. You can sand it a lot and get a crisp color or a little and get just a hint of color. We currently have the Chocolate Box and White Wash cardstock in open stock and Black Magic in packages. We also carry the sanding tools made specifically for the Core Dinations products.

I am so excited to share our newly arrived products with all of you!

This week we received the new SPLASH FUN line from Best Creations! What a perfect line for all those water activities that we will be doing this summer!
We also received the two newest lines of Basic Grey, Oxford and Out Of Print. Oxford is a beautiful line that is perfect for masculine pages and cards and Out Of Print is a gorgeous floral line with a hint of vintage.
Echo park has just come out with a cute line called Country Drive. It is full of bright colors that will be perfect for spring and summer pictures!

Wow! Can you believe that this is already the last Thursday of School?! The school stuff is starting to be brought home so this is the perfect time to start weeding through some of it!

Today's Product Review is about the TRAY MATE! I LOVE these! I Love them so much, I bought 2! They are wonderful for embossing powder, glitter, flock, beads and anything else that is small. The thing that I love most about them is the ability to pour your product back into the jar easily! No more glitter and embossing powder going all over your work area, or beads all over your floor!

The sun is finally shining and it's going to be a great day!

Today's tips are about adhesives! We all need them and some of them can be confusing. From tabs to tape runners, glue dots, foam squares, etc. you may find it confusing to choose which adhesive will work best for your project.

I prefer to use tape runners, specifically the red runners made by 3L. I find that they work really well and they also have a bit of give, if you need to pull something up to move it.

As for liquid glue, my favorites are Zig 2 Way Glue Pens (chisel tip), Tombo Aqua Glue, and Zip Dry. I use the zig pens for flock, Aqua Glue for glitter and Zip Dry for items that are larger or require a stronger adhesive (for frames, etc.)

I also love Glue Dots, specifically the mini and micro sizes. I love using Glue Dots for buttons, ribbon, and chipboard.

Lastly, I use foam squares for raising things up and my favorite adhesive for anything that I hang on the wall is the Photo Tape by 3L.
